Novelty Boxes for Dad

OK, I skipped a few of the Holiday themed Tie Boxs and opted to do a Nautical and Fall theme.

The image below compares the large tie box to the mini tie box (both included).  I shared the anchor box early, and used some of the extra anchors printed from MDS to embellish the curry colored box.

Easter Cross Box Hop

Welcome to the first 2011 blog hop featuring projects from the Paper Crafters Design team.  We'll start things off right by showcasing the newest template, an "Easter Cross Box" template featured in the February issue "Easter Wishes".

If you've been following along, then you probably just arrived from Heidi Baks blog and here beautiful Cross Box.  The blog officially starts January 30th so if you're here a little early be sure to check back again Sunday morning to see the blog hop in its entirety.

Take a look at what I've done:

The Wasabi base of the Cross was run through the Perfect Dots embossing folder.  The flowers were created with the ever so versatile Boho punch and Bold Bright designer paper, followed by sponged edges using a tangerine dye pad.  Finish off with the addition of some self-adhesive basic pearls smack-dab in the center.

Here's another view of the flowers near the bottom, laying on top of a pretty daffodil ribbon.

Dynasty Ornament ~ Poinsettia

A few days late with the directions for the Dynasty Ornament, but here they are.  It was more difficult to put into words than I thought.  Hopefully the directions and shapes I created will be easy enough to follow.

There are several ways to recreate the ornament.  Cut the template shapes and layer them one on top of the other, using the smaller layers as a guide to create your side 'strips'.  Then push them up a bit (gently) and adhere to the base.

You can find the template (along with a few others) in the "Freebie Template" group on the PocketsOfInspiration.NING  (POI.NING) site.  Like most NING's you must first sign up for the site.

Caramel Treat Box Card

WOWZERS! It's been close to a MONTH since I posted.  I've been a busy bee.  Many irons in the fire, one being the little girl below.  Despite my PLEAS to take it to the wildlife rehab, the spouse wants to hang on to it.  He talks to her just like a baby.  Look at how big she's gotten:

Now, on to some CRAFTING news.  I'm going to share with you a fabulous new template.  It's FREE and you can find it on the Pockets Of Inspiration NING site.  Here's a quick sample of how to use it:

Might I suggest if you're stuffing the box with candy, you purhcase candy your family DOESN'T like, this way you won't have to head out to the store to by another bag because they've eaten it all.

Now, you've got to PROMISE you'll make some samples and share them on the Pockest of Inspiration NING site.  Really, there's so many fun things use it for.  I want to see YOUR ideas.

Adorning Apron Hop

One of the hottest trends today is Aprons.  They're no longer worn just for chores, but used as fashion accessory also.

The design team members of the Paper Crafters Sampler have now taken those fabulous aprons into the world of paper crafting.  We've created another special blog hop for you this month featuring "Adorning Aprons".  The aprons are designed using the apron template available in the upcoming March issue "Le Jardin" (The Garden).

This month we have something extra for viewers.  Each design team member will have a drawing for a FREE copy of the March Paper Crafters Sampler.  Just leave your comments on our Adorning Aprons by March 3rd.   The winners will be posted on March 4th.  Now, let's move on to my Adorning Apron samples.


Well, if you're going to dig in the dirt you might as well do it in style, right?   The frilly lace and shapely heart pocket will keep my spirits up if I come across half of a worm will digging.

The Apron template wraps around to use as a card and is designed to fit into an A2 envelope.

I'm a large fan of Mary Engelbreit.  This next sample was designed trying to mimic her famous cherry image and bright color schemes.

The leaves tucked into the pocker are from the new SU! Two step bird punch.  The cherries were embossed, cut out and lifted with dimensionals.
